Watch sailboats glide alongside international freighters on this route (part of the St. Lawrence Seaway), which meanders past pristine wilderness, enchanting villages and bustling urban centers. The great lake and river themselves offer myriad recreational opportunities, including boating, swimming and fishing.

Ontario Canada. From Toronto, drive east to the little town of Brighton, known for its delicious apples and as the gateway to Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The park includes sprawling beaches, nature trails and spectacular bird watching. Continue to the acclaimed Thousand Islands, nestled in the St. Lawrence River between Canada and the U.S. You'll appreciate the Aboriginals' name for the area - Garden of the Great Spirit - when you scan the panoramic view from the 400-foot-tall Skydeck on Hill Island. On Heart Island, tour the 16th-century-style, 120-room Boldt Castle and discover why a heartbroken hotel magnate never finished his dream home. In Kingtson, you'll hear fife-and-drum corps as well as rifles and cannons at Fort Henry. Or step into the 19th century at Upper Canada Village near Morrisburg. The area has several great KOAs: 1000 Islands/Ivy Lea, 1000 Islands/Kingston and 1000 Islands/Mallorytown. To the northeast, relax at the Cardinal KOA.
